Rosemary Eaton, An Activist for Heritage & Environment
Rosemary Cassandra Gilliat was born in Hove, near Brighton on the south coast of England, on August 20, 1919. She lost her mother at a very young age and joined her father, a tea planter, in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). In her early years she enjoyed relative freedom on the estate, looked after by a doting staff, with a large garden and several pets including a donkey.
