Ruins of the houses after the fire on René Lévesque Boulevard

As a result of heavy winds, the flames spread quickly, covering an enormous area. They destroyed the entire house where the fire started and seriously damaged the neighbouring houses, leaving nothing but charred rubble in their wake.
