Valmont Aspiros: I was like a crazy old guy… Oh, I… anyway. She already knew some things. Because… she’d go out with me sometimes… On the weekend, as soon as the alarm rang, she’d be sitting in the car. So… I was proud. Really, really proud.
Sylvie Aspiros: There was a lot of pride, for sure, especially since I was following in his… It was like I was keeping it in the family. Definitely, when you join a department that your dad was part of before you, you really don’t want people to have the same expectations. Because my dad was a lieutenant, he was really knowledgeable. And you’re a new recruit. I had a lot of pride and I was eager to take my place, my own place. And for sure, I took a lot of pride in demonstrating that I could make my own place. And I knew my dad was worried about how I’d do. But beyond all that, this year I celebrated 20years in the department. And they awarded me the Governor (General’s) Medal. And when my dad was there, I think that was the most beautiful… the most beautiful thing that could happen to me.
Valmont Aspiros: Yeah. That’s what life’s about. Yup, you’ve just got to follow your path. That’s how it is.
