Aurora Museum & Archives (2016.5.2)

This is the first known photo of the 12th York Battalion and was taken in Newmarket in 1868.

Shortly after returning from the Fenian Raids of 1866 the Aurora Infantry Company was designated part of the 12th York Battalion of Infantry. This designation united the neighbouring Infantry Companies of Scarborough, Lloydtown, King, Newmarket and Aurora.
