Gathering in Town Park Following the End of the Boer War, 1902

The Boer War, also known as the South African War, began in 1899 and ended in 1902. The local 12th Battalion offered to aid the Imperial war efforts however Ottawa declined. This didn’t stop a few local soldiers from joining other overseas regiments that were active in South Africa.
Once peace was declared Auroran’s gathered in Town Park to celebrate.
