Anne received extensive training in painting miniatures.
When the family returned to England from Europe, they found out that they were bankrupt. Anne tried to use her talents to help support the family. Anne was paid for some of these miniature works, but her father would not allow her to solicit customers who were not already close friends or family.
Anne’s semi-isolation continued for the remainder of her time in England. In addition, by the mid 1830s, Anne’s hearing became increasingly impaired and her prospects of marriage diminished.
