Cameron Family Gifts
Photo: Peter Oliver Cameron family gifts to St. James in Fenelon Falls, Ontario are on display.
The Cameron family name appeared more and more as the St. James the Apostle archival committee inventoried the collection held by the church. Several items had the name of Lilly H. Cameron, dedicated to them. Lilly’s parents worked for James Wallis in the early part of the settlement of Fenelon Falls, circa 1850. Mr. Cameron was a steward for Mr. Wallis’ boat, and Mrs. Cameron a maid at the James Wallis’ home “Maryboro Lodge.” Mr. Cameron was a long time Sunday school teacher at St. James the Apostle in the 19th century.
Lilly Cameron, whose marriage certificate is shown here, was baptized, confirmed, received her first communion and was married at St. James the Apostle in Fenelon Falls, Ontario.
