Church Deed
The original Deed is on display at at St. James the Apostle Church in Fenelon Falls, Ontario.
In September of 1836, John Langton wrote to his father:
Jameson and Wallis ought to give the land, as they own full 12,000 acres – but Jameson is a very impracticable man and Wallis does not promise.
The exact date on which the church site was officially promised is obscure. Plans for the erection of a place of worship, and for establishing a burial ground were carried out last lease five or six years prior to the registering of the church deed.
Lot 24 of the tenth concession of Fenelon Township, continuing what later became known as “Church Hill,” was purchased by Robert Jameson in 1835 and was deeded to him in August of 1836.
