Two Sides of the Same Room Looking North by Anne Langton

Anne Langton made two miniature charcoal sketches called “Two Sides of the Same Room. It was thrilling to use these two particular sketches in our project because we were able to obtain images of some of the actual items shown in them. We were able to photograph a dining chair from Blythe Farm and a 19th century snowshoe.
Anne Langton wrote in a letter back home to England after arriving in Blythe Farm on August 22, 1837,
At last … after all delays and disappointments, our long journey is accomplished. John looked very proud when he handed his mother into his little mansion.
