Two Sides of the Same Room Looking South by Anne Langton

Miniature charcoal print titled two sides of one room. This is the side of John Langton's home that has the fireplace. It has two basic wooden chairs. There are two book cases on the wall opposite the fireplace with well over 100 books on it. Hanging on the wall is a hat, a saddle, scissors, pots and pans, and a framed print. The sketch represents a very basic cabin room of Upper Canada in 1830.

Anne Langton notes in her journal that before the first church was built, Sunday services were held in John’s house. As soon as the Langton family established a home in the wilderness of Upper Canada.

John and Anne began conducting worship services when it was impossible for ministers to attend due to poor weather or lack of transportation.

Anne would always be overlooking the incumbent candidates and was publicly vocal of their ministering and teaching styles.
