Watercolour of the Second Church of St. James
Photo: Peter Oliver
The watercolour shown here is of the second St. James the Apostle Church. The artist is unknown.
The watercolour shows congregants walking down the path up “Church Hill” to the second church.
In Anne Langton’s Journal there is a one line entry made on April 24, 1838 – Wednesday:
There was a “bee” to make a road up to the church.
That road is now gone and another path has been established just to the east of the original.
