Hanging Cross and Sanctuary Lamp

The cross suspended above the altar in St. James is made of oak, approximately 152 cm by 76 cm. This cross was given as a gift to the present St. James in memory of Ella Fielder (died 1981, mother of Marg Chalmers) and William Chalmers (died 1978, father of Paul Chalmers). It was originally hung in St. George’s Anglican Church in Cameron but when that church was closed it was brought to St. James and suspended from the ceiling at the front (late 80’s or early 90’s). The cross was made by Paul Chalmers.
The hanging sanctuary lamp is hung in memory of Marjorie Townley, long time faithful organist of St James.
