Journey to Fenelon
St. James the Apostle Anglican Church, Fenelon Falls
[Anne Langton miniature charcoal sketch of Fenelon Falls circa 1837]
Many days were spent making the trek from Blythe Farm to “The Falls” as she called Fenelon [Anne Langton miniature sketch – watercolour – showing Sturgeon Lake, with the John’s white house at Blythe Farm in the background and yellow canoe in the foreground]. Sometime she made the trip by canoe, [wooden and leather woven snowshoes circa 1880] but in the winter she followed a wooded trail by snowshoe. [Video of walking in woods, with sound of feet crunching in the leaves] On one occasion she mentioned following the footprints of wolves. She was very brave indeed.
