St. James Archival Committee has in its collection several original books of the first St. James the Apostle. Monies to purchase these were raised through bazaars in Fenelon Falls and in Peterborough, as well as books sent from England.
Below is an excerpt from Anne Langton’s letter back to her younger brother Thomas:
We must get you to send us there is a book of such amongst my old music. The Psalm tunes will be wanted soon for the Church, I hope. Yesterday our carpenter was the leader and several voices were joined to these. These, I hope, will increase in number and in power, as we get accustomed to hear ourselves.
