Curé Labelle looked into various areas of activity to stimulate industrialization in his parish, including manufacturing, farming, commerce, and mining, as well as the railway, of course. By some accounts, the quality of ore extracted from the mine at Saint-Jérôme exceeded expectations. The venture, however, appears to have been short-lived. There are only sporadic references to the mine in newspapers of the time, and it is barely mentioned in oral histories. It seems that “Curé Labelle’s Hole” was quickly forgotten!
