The authors of this almanac published by J.B. Rolland & Sons touted it as: “The most comprehensive Almanac providing the greatest amount of information about the Clergy and the Government of Canada, the Courts, the Postal Service, the Hunting and the Fishing Laws.” The almanac was a reference tool for farmers. The engraving in the centre of the cover page exemplified the trend toward modernization in farming at the time. There is no doubt that Curé Labelle, who encouraged scientific and technological progress, was influenced by the mainstream thinking of his day. For a man of the cloth, he was very open-minded.
