How would I describe Curé Labelle? He was probably one of the most amazing men of 19th-century French Canada. He was… such a colourful person: straight-talking, with his own special way of doing things. He had, I mean, such energy, unbelievable. Some people even called him a “monster of energy.” He was a priest; he was someone who preached submission and obedience, but at the same time, I mean, someone who was a trailblazer. An entrepreneur, someone who did things his way, who took an interest in just about everything you might need to build a country. Farming, industry, commerce, mines… Anything of interest, even transportation… Everything of interest, that can contribute to building a country!
