Plaskett and Pearce’s model of the Milky Way Galaxy

Plaskett and Pearce spent years of work obtaining spectra and performing painstaking calculations. When finished, they published their model of the Milky Way galaxy. They had successfully measured the size, mass and rotation of the galaxy we call home. Their work remains the greatest accomplishment of the Observatory.
