Victoria newspapers were ablaze with the news that the largest telescope in the world would be built just north of the city. The front page of The Daily Colonist had a picture of the city (looking North) with the location identified. There were also pictures of the politicians. While Plaskett was mentioned in the text, the paper did not include an image of him.
