Newspaper advertisement including the Observatory as a site to visit
The B.C. Electric railway ran from downtown Victoria to Deep Cove near the north end of the Saanich Peninsula. It passed by the foot of Observatory Hill, and very close to Butchart Gardens. This made it easy for tourists to visit both sites. This combination of tourist attractions continued after the railway shutdown in 1924. It ran as a bus tour until the late 1940s.
