Friends of the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory

This dedicated visitor centre was built in 2000 to provide the public with informative and interesting experience when visiting. It was operated by HAA but closed in 2014. A not-for-profit society, The Friends of the DAO, was formed with the intent of operating the facility. The Friends now operate the Centre of the Universe, hosting Saturday night star parties and keeping the centre open on weekdays during the summer months.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, they produced a wonderful virtual tour that lets people explore the telescope and visitor centre. (en anglais seulement)
