The Dominion Observatory was opened in 1905 and was Canada’s premier observatory. It was intended to be to Canada what Greenwich was to Great Britain and Paris to France. It served Canada’s official time to the whole of Canada. Members of the Parliamentary Press Gallery were provided a private viewing on April 29, 1905.
