This silent video shows Amelia Earhart returning to the airstrip and preparing for her iconic journey to begin.
Transcription as follows:
Earhart is shown returning to airstrip and places some items inside her plane. A huge crowd are gathered around, all ages. They are kept at a distance by a rope barrier around her Lockheed Vega.
Earhart can be seen talking with some men who are working on her aircraft. She stands and pauses at different times, looking around, and smiles at the crowd.
A person approaches her and Earhart signs a document. She can then be seen with two men, reviewing and discussing a document.
Approximately 10 seconds of a plane flying over the airstrip, could be Earhart’s Lockheed Vega, possibly when she landed earlier, or an editing issue.
Video returns to Earhart and others around her aircraft apparently doing some last minute preparations.
A man in white coveralls with ‘fokker’ on the back reaches in the plane with some items.
Earhart appears to be posing with some dignitaries.
Man in white coveralls with ‘fokker’ on the back starts turning propeller of Earhart’s Lockheed Vega. Two men start turning engine crank, and propeller starts spinning.
Video shows aircraft moving down the runway at high speed, then going airborne.
