Rita Murphy talks about going away
Interviewer: So when you left to go away, how did your parents feel about you leaving?
Rita: My God, poor old daddy, he got right of the head that evening.
Interviewer: So he didn’t want you to go…
Rita: No He didn’t want me to go. I was only going with Peter Quirke for a couple of months. So I said “My God I can’t hold on here working.”
Interviewer: So you were a great help to the household, your mom and dad.
Rita: Yeah, yeah.
Interviewer: So how many siblings did you have here at that time?
Rita: Well, Mom had Denny and Darryl after I left, so I would say ten. There were twelve altogether, see.
