Wilson King –Early Days
Credits: the Family of Wilson King
The first three days I worked in the lumberwoods was in July, I never forgot that, was 103F in Lake Ambrose, Lake Ambrose was the place name, Now that was outside in the space where the wind was I don’t know how much hotter it was in the woods and we were in the woods.
The third day we could hear something about dinner time something another making a noise, like sawing off wood, big birch trees that sort of thing making a big noise racket on the leaves. You see the sun was shining , but directly, it got close enough you could see edges of clouds, black clouds, but when it got to us it was hailstones, about the size of my two thumbs.
