The most severe flood recorded along the Thames River occurred in April of 1937. In response to this devastation, Beachville opted to alter the course of the Thames River. The river was rerouted to run in a linear path south of quarrying activities. Looking east, this 1948 image showing Beachville Road depicts the river’s previous course.
