The Animals at the Winter Quarters
Audio recording of Laura Hibbs, daughter of Bingo Hauser. Conducted by North American Carnival Museum & Archives, June 2017.
“In the off season that’s where we had the winter quarters in Langley. Oh, there was a big barn with a big wood burning stove that kept the animals warm all night. And when the weather was nice I remember the monkeys, the would be chained and on stakes out on the property so they could roam, eat the grass and play and stuff. And then we did have some of the animals, I remember the kinkajou living in the house with us, and then there was kind of like a big bird cage that had the flying squirrels in it, they were pretty cool.”
