Difficulties with Money During the Off Season
Audio recording of Wendy Hauser, daughter-in-law of Bingo and longtime family friend of the Hauser family. Conducted by North American Carnival Museum & Archives, June 2017.
“The winters were tough for them, Jackie always said, very tough. There wasn’t a lot of money in the business at that time, so Bingo would sell pots and pans and all kinds of stuff in the winter, deliver coal or wood or anything (Laura: Christmas trees, sold Christmas trees). Ya, everybody had winter jobs as well, there was never enough money to carry them year round.”
