[June (Howe) Carty (JC)] I cannot take any praise for my life, my mom and dad were amazing people.

Now, the house was small, there were nine of us,
[Mary Louise reacts in amazement] I know they they worked hard to produce for us,
[Close up of June Carty’s face, as she looks directly into the camera] …but I can remember as… in my teens, one Christmas, everybody got clothes. That was [that] they were thinking ahead. We all went to the Harvey Studio, got our picture family group taken! I don’t know what family did that back then! We had Sesman’s Scampers! We had whatever Zeller’s sold! And I can still remember, in fact I was in the Harvey Studios recently and I thought it might be the same. I was disappointed. It’s modernized. I can remember all of us getting ready… I don’t know how we got there, in the winter, probably horse and buggy, because that’s a lot of kids! And I can remember making sure everybody got up the stairs, we all posed…
[Insert of family photograph take at Harvey’s Studios] it’s a lovely picture! Yes, and… who could do that back then?
[Close up of June Carty’s face, as she speaks to Mary Louise as well as the camera] And my dad was a labourer, they didn’t have a lot of money, but they were hard-working. They believed in tithing, they… they were just great parents. I, I came out very blessed.
[Close up of a family photo taken at June’s 90th birthday party] Yes, and I’ve had a wonderful life. I’m thankful for my children.
[Close up of June Carty’s face] I wouldn’t… you couldn’t get me to move off the street
[June looks directly into the camera].
