George Lawrence was a drummer in the 104th Regiment of Foot, and was part of the 554-man contingent who marched the long trek from Fredericton (New Brunswick) to Kingston (Ontario), during one of the coldest and snowiest winters on record. They left Fredericton on February 16, 1813 and arrived in Kingston on April 12.
