Executive Director, Mark Mees, officially declares Gay Games III closed. He is standing at the podium on the stage at B.C. Place Stadium.
Mees: “Thank you very much. On behalf of the organizing committee of Celebration ’90 I would like to thank all you athletes and cultural participants for coming to Vancouver for this absolutely fantastic week. Thank you.”
(applause)
“It’s been a week filled with pride, joyous festivities, and thousands of personal best achievements. We hope you can carry the memories of Celebration ’90 with you always. Our utmost thanks and praise to the phenomenal work performed by our volunteers.”
(applause)
“Celebration ’90 happened because of its volunteers, and you made it happen. It is with great joy and honour that we hand over tonight the Gay Games flag to the Federation of Gay Games to award to the city who will host Gay Games IV in 1994.”
(applause)
“In doing so, I declare Celebration ’90 Gay Games III and Cultural Festival officially closed.”
(No’s are heard as the crowd expresses disappointment.)
“But thank you for coming, and it’s been wonderful. Thank you very much.”
