Excerpts from the Celebration ’90 Opening Ceremonies of the Parade of Athletes featuring the Canadians. The announcer calls out the cities represented. The roar of large crowd applauding and cheering is heard as the camera follows a Canadian flag being held aloft by a parading athlete.
Announcer: “Get ready! Here comes the Canadians!”
(Roar from the crowd.)
Music plays as the Canadians enter alphabetically by province, then city. The camera pans the cheering crowd.
Announcer: “Canada is represented by 1400 athletes from across our great country!”
The Alberta athletes wave their white cowboy hats in response to the crowd.
(Music plays. The crowd claps in time to the rhythm)
(Cheering and applause)
Signs for represented provinces and cities include Manitoba, Saint John, New Brunswick, Fredericton, Nova Scotia, Halifax, Ontario, Toronto, Delhi, London, and Toronto. The overhead camera shows the massive parade snaking around the edge of the stadium. Next show is Quebec, Montreal, then Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Regina, Yukon Territory, British Columbia, Victoria, and then Team Vancouver.
Announcer: “Give them a big round of applause: Van-couver!”

Announcer: “Representing the host city, Vancouver.”

Announcer: “We’re full of pride as we watch you walk the parade route tonight.”
