Interview with the Fermières Suzanne Renaud and Louise Grégoire
Suzanne: Yeah, that’s true, that’s true. Because when we met at the restaurant, it was… here, in Saint-Eustache. [Louise: Where Roger is, Roger Pop, the restaurant across the street.] Yeah, that’s right, that was where we met. And that’s true, because we sat next to each other [Louise: Yes (chuckles).] And we started talking and all that. And then, well… It was like this. You know, the way we’re sitting here… It was nice. And I said, “Come to the Fermières!” She was a bit… [Louise: Yeah, well yeah] shy, a bit [Louise: Shy when you don’t know practically anyone and… anyway.] No, that’s right. OK. And over the years, that’s right. We got to be friends because we’d joke around together. I’d tease her, she’d tease me… [Louise: And we’re lucky.] Yeah. [Louise: Because our guys get along well.] Yeah, together. [Louise: So, we have each other over for dinner, we go out to restaurants.] Yeah, that’s right.
Suzanne: Uh… We’ll call each other, and sometimes well… I’ll say, “Everything OK with you?” “No.” So, what’s wrong, and you know, we talk things over like that and it’s fun, it’s enjoyable. [Louise: We’re good listeners.] Yeah. [Louise: Sometimes you need to talk.] Yeah, we’re afraid, that’s right… We… talk with each other and we explain what’s wrong, and it helps. [Louise: Yeah, that’s right.] Yeah. That’s what, I think that’s what made us close. [Louise: Yeah, that’s right.] Because… that’s right.
Louise: And when one of us isn’t there, it feels weird. [Suzanne: Well, yeah.] For me, when you aren’t there. [Suzanne: Yeah, oh yeah, me too.] Even though there are other ladies there. [Suzanne: Yeah, yeah.] They’re great but I don’t know, someone’s missing. [Suzanne: Someone’s missing, that’s true. That’s true. And every time I come, she saves a seat for me!] [laughter].
