The painting workshop – Henriette Bédard-Larivière

Here, read the transcript of the interview with Henriette Bédard-Larivière, the Fermière in charge of the painting workshop at the Cercle de Fermières Saint-Eustache.

First of all, I don’t sew, I don’t knit, but I paint. And in 2007, I was a little… I retired. So when I retired, I thought to myself, “Why don’t I do some little painting workshops? Very simple, very… very basic, for the girls if… Even if I just got one of them into painting, that would be, my role, it would be… That would be it” You know, that’s what I wanted. So I started very… with a bag. With… denim bags. They’d sew the bags and then we’d start painting on the bags and we… there were maybe ten or so who took the painting class for quite a while. And then, fortunately, a number of them caught the bug. Some of them got really, really good, and went on to work by themselves. They started painting, and now they’re doing exhibitions. That’s something I’m really proud of.
