Daniel Wilkie was an exceptional teacher, author, Presbyterian clergyman, and newspaperman. He believed that higher education was the key to success. He was a founder of the High School of Quebec, and his peers and students highly respected him.

This monument was erected by grateful students in remembrance of his services.
