The Ladies Protestant Home was founded in 1859 as a temporary shelter for poor and destitute Protestant immigrant women. The shelter took care of many women over 100 years.
In the 1950s, its mandate expanded to seniors, non-Protestants, Francophones, and men before closing down in 1990.
