The flower beds located at the entrance were overflowing with all kinds of flowers. The roadways were beautifully manicured, and the grass trimmed to perfection.
They used rough cedar lumber to encircle the flower beds and make flower baskets. They created a peaceful ambiance for any visiting families and friends of those who lay to rest here.
“My grandfather, William, must have had considerable training in horticulture and landscape design. In the plans of the cemetery, there are good sketches and layouts of plantings. Also, my father told me that he and other young men had learned the botanical names of many of the bedding and ornamental plants from our grandfather (William).
