Inside Saint-Pierre Catholic church, Pointe-des-Cascades, 2015

Due to the decreasing number of parishioners, the diocese chose to abolish the parish in 2006. However, before the church was closed and put up for sale, the municipality announced its interest in purchasing the building. The purchase contract was finalized in 2016. The conversion project entails the creation of a municipal hall and a library all while conserving space for worship. The framework and the wood beam evoke the hulls of boats and the maritime history of this small locality. The project aims to preserve and showcase this heritage architectural feature.
