Arthur Oliver Wheeler was the first president of the Alpine Club of Canada and was a prominent surveyor for the Canadian Pacific Railway. He along with Elizabeth Parker helped Canadians develop a stronger sense of ‘national identity’ by providing access to summer Climbing Camps aimed to instill passion for the mountains and their environments.
