Martin Kafer recalled, “The Batzer Hut, which was the first one in the Chilliwack Valley. We said ‘we should have a cabin in that area’. It was a very popular area because it was relatively close and yet most of the time it was difficult to do it in a one-day trip. It was too far to drive. Together with Roy Mason, he and I flew up to it in his little plane, to decide where to put the cabin. We had an idea whether it should be on a north-side or south-side.”
