Title Screen: Building the Himmelsbach Hut
August 3-4, 1968
0:00:10-0:00:16 – The film starts with the Gothic Arch Frame structure already built and in the front right corner, two men work on the first arch framed, which has the frame for the door already built. In the foreground, piles of lumber and aluminum siding can be seen. Behind the Hut frame a snow-covered peak looms in the distance.
0:00:17-0:00:23 – Two men sit on boulders, to the left, enjoying lunch staring across to the mountain peaks and large glacier on the other side of the valley. On their right sits a pile of lumber and in the foreground is a puffy red and blue jacket.
0:00:24-0:00:32 – A close up of two men working on the front right corner of the Hut wood frame. Behind the hut the large black volcanic peak of Fissile Mountain can be seen and patches of snow still cling to its face.
0:00:33 – 0:00:44 – A white dog, a Samoyed (dog breed), lies next to the Hut frame and is basking in the sunshine amongst the rocky ground. At one point, the dog looks away from the camera toward the Hut and yawns before turning back to face the camera.
0:00:45-0:00:56 – A man wearing a purple jacket is positioned near the top of the Gothic arch Hut Frame working on the peak of the roof and is turned away from the camera. Another man wearing a hat, long-sleeve shirt and carpenter’s belt is standing on one of the side supports facing towards the camera. The third man in the frame wearing a red t-shirt and blue-shorts is busy hammering in the side support to the front arch of the Hut frame. Clear blue sky can be seen above and the snow patched slope glistens in the distance.
0:00:56-0:01:07 – A man wearing a grey hat, long-sleeve shirt and black pants stands near the front left corner and a man with blond curly hair, red t-shirt and blue shorts stands near the back arch of the Hut frame. The man wearing the hat crosses behind the man in the shorts and begins to climb the wood frame of the Hut. The man wearing the red shirt and blue shirt is hammering nails into the Hut frame.
0:01:08- 0:01:18 – Two men, one man wearing a puffy jacket and pants and another with eyeglasses, blue shirt and shorts stand on the hut frame near the roof peak and are facing the camera. The man wearing the shorts is hammering nails into the Arch frame while the other man gives direction.
0:01:19 –0:01:36 – Three men stand near the peak of the roof and two sheets of aluminum siding have been added to the near side of the hut. Two of the three men are busy working on the second piece of aluminum siding. The third man faces towards the camera wearing a blue hat, long-sleeve shirt and black pants and is waiting for the two men on the ground to bring the next piece of aluminum siding to his position. The two men lift up the piece of aluminum siding and the three men at the top jump into assist putting the piece of siding into place.
0:01:37-0:01:45 – One man exits the green front door of the finished Gothic arch Hut and another man is already waiting outside the Hut. Two small square windows border the green front door of the hut and a third square window is set above the door. The end wall is painted a bright red colour and it stands out in contrast to the silver aluminum siding and the green grass and shrubs in the meadow nearby.
0:01:46-0:01:52 – The dark interior of the finished Hut with the front door ajar and a man walking toward the open door exits the Hut. The view out the door and the window to the right of the door looks out to the glacier field and snow covered mountain peak nearby.
0:01:53-0:02:06 – From the backside of the hut, two men are seen walking on the trail and disappear of screen, the freshly finished Hut sits in its place in its green meadow and boulders. Glaciers and mountain peaks can bee seen in the distance.
