Helicopter mishap building the Himmelsbach Hut (audio)

Werner Himmelsbach said, “A few of use we hiked up there… so the first load went fine…then we waited and waited and waited and in those days we didn’t have any cell-phones so after many hours. They came with another load but not what we needed so what they forgot was to put the swivel in. You know what the swivel is? It’s the cable as the weight is on it. It unwinds. So when they flew over White Gold or something they had to drop it. We couldn’t finish this cabin. We covered it up with whatever we had there for the winter and then we had to make some new beams and for the next year.”
