W. H. Bartlett (1809-1854) was a British artist, best known for the numerous steel engravings based on his sketches. He travelled widely, including to the Balkans, the Middle East and North America. In 1838 he was in the Canadas producing sketches for Willis’ Canadian Scenery Illustrated, published in 1842.
This engraving was later hand-coloured for publication.
