Community Builders: The Organisations, Groups and Fraternities of The Pas
Over the years, numerous fraternal organizations have played a significant part in building the northern community of The Pas, Manitoba. This exhibit explores the support provided by local chapters of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, the Freemasons, the Kinsmen, the Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Rotary Club, the Order of the Royal Purple, and the Shriners.
A history of the organisations as a whole gives context to the local chapters. Each of the organisations, groups or fraternities have affected the community, shaping the way The Pas has developed. While not every local chapter is active in our community today, their histories and impacts are recognized here. We celebrate their unique achievements.
Furthermore, many of the community’s amenities would not have been produced without the generous donations of time and funding these groups have provided. They have made positive contributions to the community in the past and continue to do so today.
