Masons Licence Plate
Mason Licence Plate
Sam Waller Museum
PH2003.28.3
This licence plate, reading “Masons of Manitoba” is an example of a novelty license plate allowing the owner to both show the world that he was a member of the organisation, and also help also help support the Masons financially. The symbol on the plate is a very well known Mason sign composed of a “G” with a square beneath it and a set of two compasses above it. Together, the square and compasses enclose the “G”. The “G” is thought to refer to God, but there is no standard rule for interpretation.
Plain licence plate, reads Masons of Manitoba, with symbol to the left of it. White background with blue lettering and a gold Mason symbol outlined in blue.
