Elks – Look Out
Video recording conducted by Sam Waller Museum staff Sharain Jones.
[VIDEO TEXT] We are now overlooking the Saskatchewan River in The Pas and we’re on what is called the Look Out and this was one of the things that was produced for the Town’s Centennial in 2012. One of our service groups that contributed to this project was actually The Pas P.B.O. Elks Lodge 135. A number of other organisations contributed with developing this look out area along with the interpretive plaques. Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives, Manitoba Culture, Heritage and Tourism, Manitoba Métis Federation The Pas Region, Town of The Pas, like I said the Elks, The Pas Centennial Committee and The Pas History and Heritage Society Limited. Here is the plaque right here. Now with this look out area is part of the Town’s 10 km walking path which was constructed during the 2000s and completed in 2003. And the construction of this was done in partnership with the Kinsmen, the Rotary Club of The Pas and Town of The Pas. In 2006 Tolko, which is the local pulp mill, they contributed to the production of some of the benches that are located around this path. We’ll walk along it until we get to Sunset Park which the local Rotary Club produced once the path was completed.
