Mr. Erik Wadelius was an active member of the Elks in The Pas. He joined The Pas Lodge #135 in 1946. He became the exalted Ruler in 1951, Northern District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler in 1954 and was elected Presented of the Manitoba Elks Association in 1955. Mr. Wadelius has the honour of being the member who originated the resolution to create the Elks Purple Cross Fund, now called the Elks and Royal Purple Charity for Children. It was passed as Resolution #11 (submitted by the Manitoba Elks Association, having previously come from Lodge #135 The Pas) at the 44th National Convention held in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
Mr. Wadelius was involved in other groups around the town, and in 1991 was given a Citizenship Award by the Town of The Pas in recognition of his many years of dedicated service. His wife Olive was a member of the Order of the Royal Purple.
