Rocky Islands in the Estuary
1971. Rosemary Eaton fonds. Cole Harbour Rural Heritage Society Archives.
These rocky islands are evidence of the Meguma Terrane, a continental chunk consisting mostly of shales. These islands are easily viewed from the Salt Marsh Trail and are a good place to see marsh birds many of which roost on the rocks when the tide is high. As the tide falls they return to the mud flats to feed.
