Doctors Past & Present: A History of Healthcare in Mississippi Mills
On behalf of the North Lanark Regional Museum, we invite you on a journey with us to celebrate some of the history of the doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals who have kept the community of Mississippi Mills healthy over the years. From the first documented doctors, to the establishment of the first hospital in Almonte, and the future of healthcare practices in a rural Ontario community, this exhibit highlights past and present innovations in healthcare in Mississippi Mills.
History is not static, often has gaps to be addressed, and involves many perspectives. Recognizing this, we encourage you to share what you know about this theme with us at the museum. We have enjoyed countless hours in archival research, one-on-one interviews, and investigating leads to offer you this unique view of healthcare in this region—a story to be proud of, a living history rich in personalities and places.
