Michael Dunn: I learned more from my father than my grandfather. My father said there would be a phone call in the middle of the night and he’d be roughly awakened, saying “Hook up the horse and buggy,” or the horse and the sleigh, and off they’d go to deliver a baby. [Okay.] And there wouldn’t be any cash pass[ing] hands, but come harvest time there would be a sack of potatoes or some other such non-monetary restitution.
